In this mindfulness-based practice, students are encouraged to picture a new bike and imagine themselves riding it. This activity lets students get accustomed to the topic of sports, namely, cycling, and also the present continuous tense. Below are the instructions:
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes.
You have a new bike. It is red.
Now you are riding your bike. You're cycling.
You feel the wind in your hair.
Listen to the sounds. Birds are flying, cats are sleeping, and dogs are walking. They are happy.
You are riding your bike. It is beautiful.
Take a big breath and breathe out.
Now, open your eyes. How are you? Happy? Great? So good?
Remember to use simple language and go slowly, giving students enough time to understand and follow each step. You can also use gestures or pictures to help illustrate the activity.
