This activity is prepared for 5th graders and higher levels to help them get used to the topic of sports, in particular, swimming. It can be used at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of your lesson.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath and breathe out.
Now, you're swimming pool.
You are in the water. You are swimming.
The water is cold. Feel the cold.
Listen to the people. People are splashing. They are laughing.
You dive into the water. Everywhere is blue.
Take another deep breath and breathe out.
Open your eyes now. How do you feel? Free? Happy? Energetic? Tired?
Remember to use simple language and go slowly, giving students enough time to understand and follow each step. You can also use gestures or pictures to help illustrate the activity.
